Au programme :

Week 1: Foundations & Exploration

Day 1 – Introduction to Character Design Overview of the camp and its objectives Study of iconic characters (cartoons, comics, video games, animated films) Exercise: create a simple character inspired by objects or animals

Day 2 – Anatomy & Proportions Anatomy fundamentals (adults, children, creatures) Exercises: quick silhouette sketches Challenge: redesign an existing character in cartoon style

Day 3 – Silhouette & Readability The role of silhouette in character recognition Exercises: create 5 different silhouettes for the same concept Group critique of silhouettes

Day 4 – Personality & Expressions Study of facial expressions and body postures Exercises: draw the same character in 5 different emotions Mini-project: invent a character and define their personality traits

Day 5 – Colors & Style Color theory applied to character design Defining a personal graphic style (realistic, cartoon, manga, stylized) Exercise: color the character created on Thursday Presentation and feedback

Week 2: Development & Finalization

Day 6 – Accessories & Costumes Study of clothing, accessories and their role in storytelling Workshop: create 2 or 3 costume variations for your character

Day 7 – Interaction & Staging Placing your character in an environment or situation Exercises: simple scenes featuring your character (action, reading, relaxing)

Day 8 – Creatures & Secondary Characters Creating a sidekick or creature to accompany the main character Workshop: brainstorming and quick sketching

Day 9 – Visual Storytelling Presenting a character through layout sheets, a mini-comic or a short animation Exercises: simple storyboard built around your character

Day 10 – Portfolio & Final Presentation Layout and design of a mini-portfolio or presentation sheet Oral or visual presentation in front of the group Constructive critical feedback and certificate of participation ceremony

Open to motivated beginners as well as participants with an intermediate drawing level. English proficiency required Ability to sketch simple characters or objects Basic drawing knowledge (silhouettes, proportions) is a plus, but not required Motivation to learn character design and embrace constructive feedback
